Embarking on a PhD is a great milestone for any early career researcher and every stage of it should be celebrated. Another key milestone for early career researchers is to publish work within peer reviewed settings. After all, getting published in the appropriate academic settings is not only a great achievement but often a requirement to be eligible for many academic research positions, post-PhD.
As the process of publication can take much time and involves many stages of peer review, many early career researchers find themselves asking important questions, many of which do not have definitive answers: when should I be publishing? where do I send my work? how much time will I need? how do I respond to editors? what do I do with reviewer feedback?
The purpose of this Masterclass at IPCITI 2024 is to help you reflect on these questions alongside scholars of translation studies who publish (as editors of a journal for early career researchers) and have been published (as academics) in diverse research settings. Whether you're working on your first paper or looking to improve your publishing strategy, this workshop will help you understand the world of early academic publishing and consider what concrete actions you can take to plan for and move your publishing profile forwards.
More details on the Masterclass programme to follow soon.
